Where New Years Eve is concerned in Savannah, having a select view of the river is an absolute must. Fireworks are an essential part of ringing in the new year and on River Street, you’ll find more celebrations to choose from than you can imagine while you wait for the lights to begin. Find a spot to settle in for the viewing by 9:30 PM to capture the entire show. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to create a flawless Instagram or Facebook story!
From 7pm-1am on New Years Eve, spend some time jamming out to live music in City Market. Right outside of the Wild Wing Cafe, you’re sure to run into a guitarist or local band outside rocking out, and that’s not just for New Years Eve. Every weekend is a fun one to spend in City Market, we even stop there on our Sip N’ Cycle tour. Nestled among multiple bars, restaurants and music venues, City Market is your one stop shop for all party needs for the evening. If you do find yourself in City Market, there’s no reason to not stop by The Grove and enjoy their celebrations. Two stories, with a prime view for people watching, The Grove always treats their guests with the utmost of true Southern Hospitality. March on up and head to the top floor of The Grove and have the time of your life, with plenty of time to make it to the fireworks show by 9:30! Be sure to try their honey drizzle fries if you get hungry. Of all their awesome menu items, our humble writer Abstract Samm has a special place reserved for the drizzle fries from The Grove in City Market.
Experience Savannah’s largest New Years Eve bash at Elan on Williamson St. Plenty of room for all party animals in the area, Elan is the super club that knows how to get down on any day. Asking the question of what someone is doing while in Savannah, more often than not, is answered with Elan as the host spot. All throughout the year, this club is flocked to for parties of every kind. Five years means they must be doing something right so don’t skip out on the fun at Elan.
Local legends DRAUCKER are hosting a concert at Plant Riverside Amphitheater, giving just the excuse you need to wander down to the west end of River Street after experiencing the fireworks display. Dance your way into 2022 with a band that knows how to get the party started, and keep it going! Take advantage of a FREE show from a band that is worth 200$ tickets and hang out with DRAUCKER at the amphitheater at Plant Riverside. Lunch 12pm / Dinner Cruise 4pmTake the entire family out for the evening on the night cruise. Affordable and complete with a buffet style meal at an earlier time. Sailing off at 6:00 PM, the night cruise will return at 8:00 PM, just in time to catch the fireworks display. This option is practically made for those traveling with younger family members. Get all the fun of taking a trip on the Georgia Queen without the hassle of having to get all dressed up, unless you wanted to do that anyway. We love any excuse to dress fancy around Savannah.
Gem of the city, The Historic Savannah Theater on Bull St on New Years Eve is the place to rock out with Savannah. Hit songs from the last 5 decades, performed by the Savannah Theater Band, a complimentary champagne toast at midnight and one wicked dance floor all combine for a party that you won’t forget! Stick around after the toast to dance on stage with your best friends!
Front Porch Improv has made their way to our past articles and with great reason. Savannah’s favorite Improv group is hosting a wicked show at 210 W Victory Drive from 8-10pm on New Years Eve this year. Laugh your you-know-what off with locals that can’t stop telling jokes, as if they would even attempt that. Don’t forget to bring your masks, but don’t worry if you forget. They will provide you with one at the door if you need it. Fair warning, you will get hooked on Front Porch Improv within five minutes of sitting down for the performance. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Football fans and Georgia natives will want to pile in to the Wilmington Plantation for New Years Eve this year. Live music featuring Tyler Branch & Ten Miles Out, food by Ray Dubois, drinks and good times are ready to be had while you cheer on the Georgia Bulldogs starting at 7:30pm. You can’t miss the Old Sheraton Hotel on Wilmington Island so wander right on in to the ballroom any prepare to watch our DAWGS win as the last thing you do this year!
Head over to the 2nd annual, Cirque Du Masquerade at Rocks on the Roof! Located in the Bohemian Hotel Savannah, you can dance the night away right beside the river. Don your masks and fanciest gowns for a night of live entertainment, food and complimentary champagne at midnight! A classic event, just like Savannah, you will fit right in to the historic aesthetic of Savannah at the Cirque Du Masquerade.
Here’s a special treat for you, a quick mention of some live music shows going on December 31st in Savannah. What better way to ring in 2022 than sharing a kiss with your sweetheart during a fantastic musical set? You won’t search for long before the sultry sounds of a local band draw you right inside. Just like a lot of our venues and bars, the music scene in Savannah is dependable throughout the year but New Years Eve seems to hold a specific energy, one that radiates from each stage available. Even if you hear music that we did not mention in this particular article, you cannot go wrong with walking into a bar that is hosting a live performer while in Downtown Savannah’s Historic District.
